Moving Onward

What a wonderful General Conference we watched this weekend! We were able to catch all three sessions yesterday between moving over to our new area. I especially loved the talk from Bro. Plamer about the resurrected Willow tree. Can’t wait to read these great and inspiring talks again in the coming days. We are not finished with our move as not everything could fit in our little truck. Since this apartment is going to be closed down, we were invited to take everything we can including a little chest freezer. We will make use of that with our cooking assignment over the next year and almost a half. Today we watched one session with our good friend, Mark. This was his first General Conference, and he really took several messages from it to heart. Tomorrow we will finish moving the last things over and then comes the unpacking and organizing in the new place. We are anxious to meet the members there and to learn all we can about the Branch and the area. It is only about a half hour away from here, but all the traffic in between makes it feel like a long way.

Last Monday we had a fun P-Day outing with our new district elders. I have been wanting to climb up to the top of Mt. Royal to see the amazing view but haven’t had the chance til now. I thought we were in for a hike, but the elders took us straight up the stairs. They can take the stairs a lot faster than I can, so I was the slow poke. Elder Glenn was not much a head of me though. We have been taking the stairs in our apartment to the fourth floor to get in some extra steps, so I thought I was doing ok. But hey, I caught up to some 20-year-olds without much trouble. It was a cloudy day, so our view was not as good as other times, but it was a pretty view of the city scape.  We also had our final institute class for the semester last Wednesday and got a group photo with our students, co-teachers the Clarks and the sister missionaries.

To finish off our week before conference our mission president took the whole zone to the temple. He arranged for us to trade our temple day to Friday so that we could be the officiators of the session. It was such a sweet experience to see the celestial room filled with these young missionaries. We grabbed a couple pictures outside of all our sister missionaries and a last shot with our old district group. The young missionaries are now invited to go to the temple while serving on their missions four times a year. So, the mission president takes one zone at a time, and we fill up a whole room, all arranged ahead with the Temple president. This is such a wonderful opportunity for the missionaries, and it really does strengthen them in the work they are doing to gather Israel. We also took a couple of sisters, Carol and Debbie, from our Greenfield Park ward to the temple before our move from the ward. They have been a part of our FHE zoom group here and some of our first friends after we arrived last September.

Next week I will be reporting from our new assignment. We are enthused and ready to make this move. It is wonderful to know that the Chomedey Branch is anxiously awaiting our arrival. There is much work to do and I know we will be very busy. That’s good, I like to be busy doing the Lord’s work.

Au revoir,

The Glenns
