Today we had our own little miracle. Our planned event, a Fall Mix and Mingle Potluck after church, was nearly canceled. We had been planning it for weeks and inviting all our friends and branch members. Everyone here is getting ready for winter snows and it seems the first one of the season is hitting us now. There was a discussion about canceling church because of the threat of snow and because many people have to drive a long way to get to church. Yesterday we were told that the decision would be made at 3pm. We waited and prayed that they would not cancel. Finally, at nearly 4pm they decided to go ahead. We are so glad that they didn’t cancel because we had an awesome sacrament meeting. We had about a dozen friends join us at church, several of them were first timers who promised to come again. The elders and sisters were busy keeping track of them all. The talks were excellent testimonies from a Hispanic couple who moved here 6 months ago from Peru. Our RS meeting was more full than usual, and in EQ they were able to confer the priesthood on two of our new members. We had plenty of people who stayed for the potluck and enjoyed wonderful socializing. The snow began to flurry during our dinner but really didn’t snow until we had everything cleaned up and everyone was safely home. We were so happy to come home to our warm covered garage. Ok, let it snow now!
We are looking forward to this next week for our mission tour, a once-a-year meeting for the whole mission. We have two members of our new Canada Area Presidency who are also area seventies coming to visit us this time. The mission’s far-flung missionaries will be flown in for the event. We do not have to cook this year as we did last year because they are having it catered on both days. We will be assisting with set-up and such, but we thankfully can enjoy sitting in on these meetings this year. It’s a fun time to get together with all the senior missionaries who we generally only see on Zoom, as well as so many of the young missionaries that we have come to know.
Au revoir,
The Glenns, Gigi and Papi
